Episode 58 : Nostalgia
We all think we’re pretty cool, and then that one thing from our youth turns us into a saggy nostalgic bag of sighs. Is this healthy, and even less important, is this Zen?
Links mentioned:
- All of your wishes have come true Gwen, NKOTB is back.
- An interesting article from the AMA on false memories.
- An in-depth talk on the 5 skandhas. It’s from a Dzogchen teacher but hey, gotta throw them a bone sometimes…
- And our man Thanissaro Bhikkhu and his blessed translations with a thankfully short sutra on samskara.
- Gwen talks some smack on Hot Yoga (Bikram Yoga) If you want some more info on why we’re not down with it read this engrossing Mother Jones piece.
- Patrick mentions the Uncle Rico character from Napoleon Dynamite. Now you can get the action figure! Sweet!

YES! Murder She Wrote but don’t forget MASH. Thanks for taking me back in time for a moment.

hey, why not keep it simple? “thanks for LISTENING…”
: )
PS - i agree with zach. MASH rocks. still timely, even though it was made 30+ years ago.

I’m with Zach…we are simply finding ZIS…and listening. Speaking of nostalgia….Gwen and Patrick are a bit like a twenty-first century zen George Burns and Gracie Allen….and Gwen, you are not Gracie. It’s very enjoyable!! Thanks.

Hi there, just wanted to say thanks for the fab podcasts, I really enjoy them. My only request is: please would you alter the mic balance somehow? Patrick’s volume is always a lot lower than Gwen’s. Thank you :o)

Re: Lucia’s comment. We’re working on the mic situation. This episode was especially bad for a number of reasons, too boring to go into here.
But part of it is the real Gwen and Patrick experience. Patrick is soft-spoken, and Gwen is loud as hell. We need to adjust the mic levels in our brains!
