Episode 81 : Disappointment
The first half of this podcast is a talk about gender issues, the second about dealing with the disappointments of life. They connect in there somewhere, but we can’t tell you how.

Massaging egos? Manipulation?
Thats not zen. Its just more of the same.
Vote zen.

You could say having a job in general isn’t “zen” though. I think ZIS is more about applicable zen concepts and ways of living than it is about harcore, all out, monk in a monastery stuff. And thats the way I like it…

I think there is a small navigable space where you can “mindfully” manipulate a situation so that it benefits you, without harming others. To think that any of those old monks sitting up in their monasteries do it any differently is a bit idealistic.

Manipulation is a word with negative connotations (as is selfishness), but both of those things can be used to not only benefit yourself but others around you.

I don’t know. I think its too idealistic to act from thought. Intuition is another matter though.
I did like the sprinkle of zen regarding how life never goes your way.

Patrick -
I am totally with you: I am happiest when I am doing nothing.
I am crazy busy Monday - Friday from 8 to 6 which is entirely too much for me. So when I am not at work I like to do as little as possible.
